Feedback for The Ordinary "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% 30ml

  • 4th Jul 2019 Review rating - 4 out of 5.

Bought the first one when it just came out and was initially somewhat put off by a) the smell (almost vinegary) and b) the "high demands" of using copper. However - the only real issue is using copper (or any other 'metals') with acids and acids are better left for the evening use anyway. I have combination/oily skin with a lot of fine lines. Most mornings I either use Copper Buffet or Matrixyl, and most evenings I use Granactive Retinoid and yes, they are safe and i always use them around the eye area, too. If the blackheads are becoming large again, I use a bit of niacaminade with zinc on my t-zone (underneath buffet/matrixyl). If I feel a pimple coming, I dot a bit of salicylic acid directly on it. If i feel tired or am about to do a lot of travelling, I use hyaluronic acid underneath everything else. The only other products besides the Ordinary ones I now use are Omorovicza balacing moisturizer (mostly winter time or some evenings, when I feel oily and parched at the same time), face masks (different brands) and eye creams (still looking for my holy grail eye cream). Before switching to the Ordinary, I was almost religiously obsessive using Estee Lauder (Advanced repair + eye serum + eye cream + face and neck creams) and Lancome (cleaning milk, toners, makeup removers etc) with an occasional Dior (tried a few serums and eye creams) and Elemis (toners and masks + pro-collagen cream) thrown in the mix. But my skin got worse and worse and I put it down to early onset menopause and aging - very oily, but paper thin skin; very very visibly enlarged pores, massive blackhead infestation, hundreds of fine lines and the rest of the face covered in micro-tiny bumps. I still have all of my fine lines, but they are less noticeable now that my skin does not look so crapey; blackheads have become a lot smaller and my enarged pores are no longer an issue. I still get oily, though that has also gotten better. I no longer use any products that contain oil, silicone or perfumes and, to be honest, was somewhat taken aback when I started reading the labels of my beloved high-end brands and discovered how much unnecessary stuff put in just to make it smell and feel nice (at the expense of your skin health). Copper Buffet and Granactive Retinoid from the Ordinary are among my holy grail products of makeup/skincare: I am currently travelling and have decanted 5ml of each of them to take with me :D :D Thank god for tiny plastic dropper bottles you can get from ebay, the glass bottles are REALLY lousy to travel with - especially if you tend to go hand-luggage only :( ps. I still dislike the smell of Buffet with copper - but willing to make a sacrifice.
